Welcome Message

It is my great honor to be chairing International Traffic Medicine Association (ITMA), 27th World Congress of and welcome you, hosted for the first time in Japan.

This Congress marks a historic moment for our country and for the broader Asia-Pacific region. Traffic medicine continues to play an essential role in protecting lives and promoting safe, sustainable mobility. In recent years, Japan has faced complex challenges such as aging drivers, vulnerable road users, and the integration of new technologies in transportation. We believe that international collaboration and academic exchange are indispensable in addressing these evolving issues.

The main thema of this congress is “Future endeavors of traffic medicine”. We have to make a joint effort to decrease the traffic deaths and make a safe society in all over the world. This year’s scientific program brings together a diverse group of professionals from across the globe—including clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and safety advocates—who are all deeply committed to advancing traffic medicine. We are confident that the discussions, presentations, and new connections made during this meeting will contribute meaningfully to both local and global traffic safety efforts.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the ITMA, our organizing committee members, sponsors, and all participants who have made this meeting possible. We sincerely hope you enjoy the academic content as well as the culture and hospitality of Japan.

Welcome to Japan, and thank you for joining us in this important endeavor.

Sincerely,

Masahito Hitosugi, MD, PhD

President, ITMA, 27th World Congress in Tokyo
